I have lived in Ahwatukee for over 25 years. I married my high school sweetheart 35 years ago and we have raised our three children (and numerous pets) in Ahwatukee. All three children are products of the Kyrene School District which provided them with a solid foundation, not only in early education, but also in understanding the importance of community. I feel I bring an eclectic background of music, education, business and social justice to my work. I began my career as a high school biology teacher, I went on to co-found a successful international entertainment company in 1992 that still thrives today. In 2011, I returned to academic life and received a master’s degree in Social Justice and Human Rights and I received my PhD in Justice Studies in May 2020. Currently I am a faculty associate at Arizona State University teaching professional development and justice studies. I also founded a grassroots political activist group in Ahwatukee with over 350 members which helps to support common good projects such as excellence in public education. Hoping to combine my expertise from business, education, leadership and social justice, I wish to give back to the community that has been my family’s home for over 25 years.
